Tensing
Ten Sing is a performing arts group for teenagers, primarily interested in singing and creating music, based here at our Lincoln Centre.
The primary goal of Tensing is to empower young people by giving them responsibility, developing their skills and strengthening their social networks. The group is run by the members with YMCA staff on hand to help when necessary.
Many YMCA’s, both nationally and internationally, have their own Ten Sing Group. Ten Sing originated in Norway in 1968 and the name is a combination of the Norwegian "ten" meaning "teen" and the English word "sing".
Lincoln Ten Sing is open to all young people aged 13 – 19 who have an interest in music and its many sub-strands. The group meet to gather new ideas, practice as a group, prepare for performances and generally have a good time amongst like minded people.
