YMCA Lincolnshire is delighted to announce the appointment of two new member of its Board of Trustees.
The organisation, which has a focus on youth provision and homelessness in the county, has strengthened its Board of Trustees through the appointment of Dr Rona Mackenzie and Councillor Chris Burke MBA.
Dr Mackenzie brings a wealth of knowledge in the education sector, having worked in six local authorities in her career. Previously an Ofsted Inspector and Founding Principal of Lincoln University Technical College (UTC), Dr Mackenzie is passionate about providing an education that meets the needs of young people and their community industries.
Until May 15th 2018 Councillor Burke was the 811th Mayor of Lincoln and is now Chair of Policy Scrutiny and member of the County Health Scrutiny Committee. Cllr Burke has extensive experience working with youth and homeless people, having delivered specialist services for the Salvation Army in Nottingham and the British Red Cross. He also held the voluntary role of Children and Young Person’s Champion at the City of Lincoln Council until May 2014.
Cllr Chris Burke said “I regard this appointment as an honour and privilege; I have long admired the work of the YMCA in our City and County in fighting homelessness but also enabling positive change for those we should be supporting in our community. I look forward to working with such an excellent and committed team.”
