At Lincolnshire YMCA our mission is simple – we work to develop mind, body and spirit and improve health and wellbeing for all. We are passionate about helping our people gain the strength, resilience and skills to thrive and achieve their full potential.
Our culture is fast-paced, aspirational and values-led, and the Health and Safety Officer is a vital role, leading a positive and collaborative approach to the delivery of H&S across our organisation. We are committed to being a vibrant and visionary charity to transform the lives of the people we support.
You’ll bring to us a positive and can do attitude with experience of previously working in a H&S environment. You’ll be highly motivated and have passion and enthusiasm in bucket loads, be a natural team player and be great at solving problems. Reporting to the Director of Corporate Services, you’ll strike a balance between supporting our managers and wider staff team and the needs of the business, working effectively as part of a team to improve and develop our H&S systems.
If you think you have the relevant skills and experience, we want to hear from you. As the H&S lead for the Organisation, you will support the Charity in meeting its Health and Safety obligations. The position is agile as we operate across many sites in Lincolnshire, with some working from home and our main base in Lincoln. The successful applicant will be a flexible member of the team responsible for the delivery of our H&S obligations in line with legal and regulatory requirements. You will be able to work on your own initiative with the ability to lead a positive H&S culture, building and managing strong, positive, working relationships with managers, colleagues and service users. The role will provide initial Health and Safety guidance and sign posting to YMCA managers/officers on current Health and Safety policies/procedures/guidance. Provide support to the team in the delivery of training, creating training materials and data handling along with a number of on-line systems we use for safety management. You will have a minimum qualification – IOSH (or equivalent) Working/Leading Safely Certificate, plus relevant experience of operational health & safety, having previously worked in a similar setting and have a good level of knowledge with I.T. systems and Microsoft applications. A current driving licence and a vehicle insured for business use are an essential requirement of the role.
