Senior Caretaker

Job Title:  Senior Caretaker

Salary:  £22,000-£23,500 per annum (dependent on experience)

Working hours: 37.5 (0800hrs – 1600hrs 5 days out of 7)

Location: Based at the YMCA Annex on Rosemary Lane, with regular travel to other YMCA Lincolnshire sites.

Job Purpose: To ensure the preparation and upkeep of accommodation and communal areas, ensuring that all areas of the YMCA are safe, cleaned and maintained to a high standard.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Role and Responsibilities:

  • Supervisory engagement with cleaners, contactors and other caretakers.

  • Responsibility for rotas and service provision.

  • Small works supervision including the turnaround of voids.

  • Post inspect works carried out by external contractors.

  • Active participation in future ideas and initiatives and delivery of projects and plans.

  • Proactive participation in training programmes to develop skills, knowledge and experience and share it amongst the team.

  • Ensuring standards of safety, cleanliness and tidiness are maintained and monitored throughout the YMCA portfolio in line with the Housing Health and Safety rating system.

  • To carry out and supervise spot checks and emergency cleaning which may be necessary to maintain hygiene standards and overall building appearance and external areas.

Person Specification

  • Previous experience in a commercial or similar environment is desirable. Alternatively, a demonstration of an understanding of the requirements of the role gained from a personal perspective, or in a volunteering or other context.

  • Ability to prioritise own work in keeping with agreed norms and to be self-managing to ensure delivery.

  • Practical skills for repairing and maintaining equipment.

  • Understanding of domestic electrical and plumbing.

  • Ability to recognise potential health and safety hazards to self, other staff, residents and members of the public.

  • Excellent customer service.

  • Full, clean driving licence.
