Save Water and Save Money

Our Communities Team we are working with Anglian Water to bring you advice and tips on how to save money by saving water!

Many of us will be spending more time at home due to the current circumstances around COVID-19. It’s vital that we follow the hand washing guidelines and other measures recommended by Public Health England. If you would like to find ways to save water in other areas of your life, here are a few tips for how to go about it.

Love Lincoln by counting every drop!

Although we are fortunate to live in a part of the world where we perhaps pretty much take water for granted, here in Lincolnshire we live in one of the driest parts of the country. Anglian Water serves communities and businesses that receive a 1/3 less of the rainfall than in other parts of the UK, and less rainfall than some areas of Spain!

Winters are becoming drier and summers are becoming hotter; the demand for water is becoming greater, therefore it’s more important to Love Every Drop and save water where we can.  If everyone makes small changes at home or work, together we can make a real difference.

Project lead at the YMCA, Janet Clark explained “with an expanding population there is a real chance that in the near future we could end up with water shortages that would mean hosepipe bans being more frequent and even disruption to our domestic supplies”.

The project team’s role is to encourage households to adopt new habits and think before they turn on the tap!

Janet added that “the YMCA will be running several competitions including a quiz for households and a music related competition for young people. Information and top tips will be cascaded through social media and radio, we would also suggest keeping in tune with our webpages
