YMCA Lincolnshire celebrates it’s 150th Birthday

YMCA Lincolnshire were delighted to host a celebration event for staff and their friends and family for our 150th Birthday. The event highlighted our past, showcased the present and looked to the future.

There were demonstrations from our parkour club, a rendition of Oliver by our drama club and live performances from young people who use our music studio. The Showroom was transformed, as our sports facility received a Fairytale tea party makeover from our nurseries team highlighting the services they provide.

Our CEO, Caroline Killeavy and our Chair, Ian Sackree spoke to staff, their friends and family explaining that 150 years an incredible milestone.

The event showed every aspect of YMCA Lincolnshire, where since 1869 there has been a YMCA in the county.

In Lincolnshire, there were originally two YMCAs – Lincoln YMCA and Stamford YMCA. The two associations merged in 2005 to form YMCA Lincolnshire. In 2013 YMCA Lincolnshire was joined with The Nomad Trust, a Lincoln-based homelessness charity to form Nomad. This year, we have merged with Community Lincs and opened the new Nomad Centre on St. Rumbold’s Street in Lincoln.

The event also showed how proud we are of being a part of Lincolnshire for such an extensive period of time, providing services for the community to this very day. These include youth work, training, housing, childcare, and a retail shop.

We would like to thank everyone who attended and who allow us to provide a range of services for the community. Without your support, we couldn’t do what we do.

Here’s to another 150 years!
