A Space Between – Spalding, Sleaford & Abbey Ward

At YMCA Lincolnshire, we believe in fostering communities where every individual feels that they have the opportunity to belong, contribute, and thrive so that they feel safe valued and fulfilled. Funded through the Office of the Police & Crime Commissioner, our Safer Streets project was aimed at reducing crime and anti-social behaviour whilst promoting equality and community cohesion across Lincolnshire.

About The Project

The Safer Streets project was a community-led initiative that encouraged local residents to engage in “courageous conversations” about anti-social behaviour and related issues. By sharing personal stories and insights, individuals helped to shape tailored interventions that address local concerns. The project provides a platform for local residents to submit their experiences anonymously, fostering open dialogue and collective action.

Key Objectives

  • Raise Awareness – Highlight issues related to ASB, prejudice, and social cohesion.
  • Community Engagement – Encourage local residents to share their experiences and perspectives.
  • Co-Create Solutions – Collaborate with local organisations and authorities to develop effective interventions.
  • Empower Residents – Provide tools and resources to help communities address safety concerns.
