YMCA Lincolnshire Awarded Grant from UK Shared Prosperity & Rural Prosperity

YMCA Lincolnshire is delighted to announce that we have been awarded a grant from the UK Shared Prosperity & Rural Prosperity to establish and support ten local networks of community organisers, volunteers, and community-building committees across East Lindsey.

This exciting new project builds on two years supporting over 50 community groups and buildings on-the-ground across East Lindsey – with the aim of building confident, cohesive and thriving communities for all. Through this work we had over7,000 engagements with local people, helped create over 600 volunteering opportunities and helped grassroot groups apply for and be awarded over £250,000 of funding to improve their community places and activities. This new phase will deepen that impact, helping to build stronger, more resilient communities and delivering long-term positive outcomes for local residents.

Our Goal

Our aim is simple but powerful: to connect and empower those working at the heart of their communities. Across Lincolnshire, geography often leaves community organisers working in isolation. This can lead to burnout, duplication of effort, and reduced impact. Our project will address this by establishing “Rooted Together” networks. Each of the 10 networks will serve a 10-15 mile radius to ensure equitable coverage across the district.

The Rooted Together Networks

These networks will act as vital hubs of connection, collaboration, and knowledge sharing. They will:

  • Provide regular opportunities for organisers to meet up and build relationships.
  • Share practical resources, good practices, and local contacts.
  • Strengthen community-led initiatives through better coordination and peer support.
  • Reduce duplication of events and efforts.
  • Boost confidence and motivation among organisers.

Each network will hold in-person networks and have opportunities for community organisers to connect virtually.

This project forms part of YMCA Lincolnshire’s work to ensure people and communities across the county have the opportunity to belong, contribute and thrive so that they feel safe, valued and fulfilled.
