YMCA Lincolnshire Announces New Chair of the Board

YMCA Lincolnshire is delighted to announce the appointment of Chris Langdon as the new Chair of the Board of Trustees.
Following an extensive, wide ranging recruitment campaign, the Board of Trustees selected Chris as both a new member of the Board and its incoming Chair. Chris will succeed Lady Kerrin Wilson QPM., who is stepping down from the role after providing valued leadership and guidance to the charity for the last three and a half years.
Chris joins YMCA Lincolnshire at an exciting time for the organisation as it continues to expand its impact and support for communities across the county through tackling homelessness, youth work, early years education and community development.
Upon the appointment of Chris, Kerrin says:
“Since joining the Board I have constantly been impressed with the scale and reach of YMCA Lincolnshire. As I step down from my role as Chair, I am proud of the achievements under my tenure, the stronger governance and of course the excellent Trustees and Leadership team. Collectively they are in a strong position to progress the ambitions and keep this wonderful organisation positively impacting on lives across the whole County” Lady Kerrin Wilson QPM.
The Board, staff and volunteers would like to extend their sincere thanks to Kerrin for her dedication, commitment and contribution to YMCA Lincolnshire during her tenure as Chair. Her leadership has helped strengthen the organisation and support its ongoing mission to serve local people and communities.
Our incoming Chair, Chris Langdon is the owner of Oakmoor, a kitchen and interiors business with showrooms in Lincoln and Oakham. He brings experience of building and leading businesses and commercial boards, and also mentors business founders as they grow their organisations.
Chris has supported YMCA Lincolnshire since moving to the county. He was first drawn to the charity by its work tackling homelessness and came to see how much its impact reaches beyond that, across youth work, early years and community development. He believes that so much can be built on giving people the right support when they need it most, and he is committed to giving his time to help make that happen.
On his appointment as Chair, Chris said:
"YMCA Lincolnshire does incredible work that changes the direction of people's lives, from a safe place to live to nursery provision or a youth worker who keeps turning up. I'm honoured to have been asked to chair its Board of Trustees. My first thanks go to Kerrin, who leaves the charity with stronger governance and a confident leadership team. My role now is to make sure the Board gives Chris Kirkwood and his team the right balance of support and challenge, holds us to the highest standards of stewardship, and keeps us focused on the people and communities we serve across the county."
Commenting on the appointment, Chris Kirkwood, CEO of YMCA Lincolnshire said:
"We are delighted to welcome Chris as Chair of YMCA Lincolnshire’s Board of Trustees. Chris has a strong commitment to our values and vision for the future. We look forward to working with him as we continue to create opportunities for people and communities across Lincolnshire to belong, contribute and thrive."
As YMCA Lincolnshire looks to the future, the charity remains committed to delivering high-quality services that transform the lives of people and communities across the county.
